New Delhi: A slew of landmark projects are set to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next few months, across sectors including road and highway. The mega infrastructure push in the country will help save time for commuters in many ways and change travel across regions. The five big upcoming projects on PM’s table for inauguration are the world’s highest railway bridge in J&K Chenab Bridge, India's longest sea bridge Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, country's longest expressway connecting Delhi to Mumbai, the Dwarka Expressway in Delhi and the Agra Metro to the Taj Mahal.

Look At 5 Big Upcoming Projects in India:

1. Chenab Bridge: The world's highest rail bridge is likely to be inaugurated soon by the Prime Minister in Jammu and Kashmir. This landmark event will also establish the connection between Kashmir Valley with Jammu through a rail link. The bridge falls on the Katra-Banihal line, the only non-functional section in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The Chenab Bridge spans 1,315 metres and is 359-metre high, making it the world’s highest rail bridge. It is built over the Chenab River, connecting Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

2. Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: : One of the most eagerly anticipated projects in the 'city of dreams', the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is set to open for public on January 12, after its inauguration-led by the Prime Minister. Spanning around 22 km, the project will become India's first and the world's 12th longest sea bridge. Apart from connecting Mumbai and its satellite city, Navi Mumbai, the MTHL project will reduce travel time for commuters efficiently. Starting in Sewri, South Mumbai, the bridge traverses Thane Creek, north of Elephant Island, concluding at Chirle village near Nhava Sheva.

3. Dwarka Expressway: Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the Gurgaon stretch of the Dwarka Expressway soon. Being a significant infrastructure project for the Delhi-NCR region, it has been designed as India's first fully access-controlled 8-lane elevated expressway on a single pier. The project includes an 8-lane tunnel spanning 3.8 km and four level interchanges for smooth traffic flow. It further includes a 2.4 km long 6-lane tunnel for seamless connectivity to Delhi International Airport, multiple 3-level interchanges for signal-free connectivity, and a 6-lane service road to segregate local traffic.

4. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Prime Minister Modi may launch the Delhi-Surat stretch of India's longest expressway connecting Delhi with Mumbai in March, 2024. Earlier, he inaugurated two stretches of the expressway, the Sohna-Dausa-Lalsot section in February last year and the Modak-Jhabua section in Madhya Pradesh in October last year. A particular stretch in Rajasthan and a major stretch in Gujarat between Ankaleshwar and Vadodara could also be inaugurated by the PM soon. This will further shorten the journey between Delhi and Mumbai, the two big business cities of India.

5. Agra Metro: A 6-km metro stretch in Agra leading to the Taj Mahal is poised for inauguration soon by the Prime Minister. This holds significant prestige as Agra attracts numerous tourists annually, and the introduction of the metro is a strategic measure to alleviate congestion and enhance passenger convenience. The to-be-inaugurated stretch is designated as a priority corridor, encompassing an underground section. Upon becoming operational, this will mark the fourth metro project in Uttar Pradesh to join the ranks of Noida, Lucknow, and Kanpur.
