Mumbai Building Collapse: Dongri death-toll rises to 14; Maharashtra govt announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia, NDRF continues search

Following the Dongri building collapse in Mumbai Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced ₹5 lakh for next of kins of deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured

country was shocked with report of ar building collapse in Mumbai when on Tuesday portion of a 100-year-old building collapsed in Dongri area of Mumbai . As many as 40 people were trapped under debris. Sources said that collapse happened due to incessant rains in city. Till Tuesday night, 10 people were reported as de and around 8 de, as per reports by Mumbai Police. Following incident Chief Minister Devendra Fnavis on Tuesday anunced ₹5 lakh for next of kins of deceased and ₹50,000 for injured.  CM Fnavis also stated that all medical expenses of injured will be borne by Govt of Maharashtra.

On Wednesday, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team carriesd out search operation with help of sniffer dogs, at Kesarbhai building collapse site. It is sasid that few people may still be trapped under debris. AS per NDRF's report at 07:00 hours on Tuesday death toll has gone up to 14.

MHA also issued a collapse report of building which confirms that portion of building was unauthorised. In MHA's collpase report it said that Unauthorised portion behind Building number 25 C, backside portion of Nishanpa ro, 1st, 2nd and 3rd was fully collapsed. It stated that repair work was t taken up since building is unauthorised.

CM Fnavis on Tuesday h said that main focus is to rescue people trapped under debris and, "As per initial information, nearly 15 families are feared to be trapped because of a building collapsed in Dogri. focus w is on people stuck beneath debris. This will be investigated once everything becomes clear".
