Mumbai local derailed after short circuit was spotted, services affected
Suburban train services of the Central Railway (CR) were affected on Sunday evening after a coach of a Kalyan-CSMT local train derailed between Vidyavihar and Kurla stations, an official said.

Before derailment, a short circuit was spotted in a lies compartment around 7 pm when train was approaching Vidyavihar on slow track, he said.

After some women commuters drew station officials' attention to sparks and flames coming out a switchboard in lies compartment, train was halted.
After problem was resolved, train resumed its journey towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai, but one of its coaches derailed around 8.55 pm, CR official said.

As a result, locals running on slow track were shifted to fast track, delaying several services, he said.

Meanwhile, with an aim to ensure safety in railways, central railway has come out with an invative idea of installing visual indicators in local trains to Mumbaikars.Central Railway has installed a blue light visual indicator just above entrance of one EMU coach for guiding commuters t to board running train, at last moment.
indicator flashes when to stop boarding train before it becomes unsafe and draws a boundary on platform which is minimum clearance level for commuters to avoid accidents while train is in motion.
