Mumbai-Pune Expressway Accident: 14 Injured as Tempo Hits Bus

Mumbai: Fourteen persons were injured after a tempo hit a private bus on Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raig district in early hours of Thursday, a police official said.

incident took place at around 3 am when bus carrying 11 persons was on way to Mumbai from Sangola.

brakes of a tempo transporting chickens failed following which vehicle hit bus from behind, official said.

bus veered off highway, overturned and fell into a 20-foot-deep ditch on roside, he said.

Eleven persons onboard bus, including driver, and three tempo occupants were injured, official said.

bus passengers were later rescued. y were treated for minor injuries at a civic-run hospital in Khopoli and later allowed to go.

three tempo occupants received serious injuries. y were undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Kalamboli near Panvel, official said.

Khopoli police were conducting a probe into incident, official ded.
