Mumbai Rains: Thunderstorms over Arabian Sea and neighbouring areas

Heavy rainfall gripped Mumbai City yet again on Wednesday. Following the unprecedented downpour, traffic movement in the city was severely affected.

Heavy rainfall gripped Mumbai city yet again on Wednesday. Following unprecedented downpour, traffic movement in city was severely affected. In dition, several streets and main ros were water-logged in early hours of Wednesday. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a massive thunderstorm is hovering over Arabian Sea and neighbouring regions.

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai

IMD tweeted a picture of thunderstorm over Arabian Sea. In its tweet, it said:

"Very Severe Cyclonic Storm HIKAA over Arabian Sea."

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also anunced that rainfall will likely occur in parts of metropolis

Skymet Wear predicts more rains

Private wear forecaster Skymet Wear said city recorded heavy rainfall overnight and between 5:30 am to 6:30 am. According to Skymet data, 27 mm of rainfall was received in just three hours. Overall, 67 mm of rainfall followed. Apart from usual showers, thunders and lightning was also witnessed in few parts of city. Visuals from surrounding areas gave a picture of  heavy downpour.

Skymet has confirmed that more rains are likely to follow

It also confirmed that water-logging will occur reby, affecting traffic movement. Previously, Mumbai h received heavy rains on September 19 and 21. Since n only light, isolated rains were witnessed in city.
