Mumbai Woman Calls Workers for Diwali Cleaning Through Service App, Gets Looted of ₹4 Lakh Gold

A woman was robbed of gold ornaments worth ₹4 lakh after hiring cleaners through the NoBroker app for Diwali cleaning.

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, 55-year-old Leena Mhatre from Dahisar, Mumbai, was robbed of gold ornaments worth ₹4 lakh after hiring cleaners through Broker app for Diwali cleaning. 

On October 21, Mhatre booked service, and following morning, two men arrived at her residence in Rishikesh Society, J.S. Ro, Dahisar East.

After cleaners left, Mhatre discovered her cupboard open and her gold jewelry missing. 

She reported ft to police, who promptly arrested Arbaz Khan, 27, as prime suspect. CCTV foot also led to identification of two or suspects, Santosh Omprakash Yav and Sufiyan Nazeer Ahm Soudar.

Investigating officer Sandip Gorde stated, “We’re examining if Broker verified se employees before assignment. app has blocked ir IDs since incident." Police emphasized necessity of background checks for all service staff, ting that compliance with police verification remains low despite regulations.

This incident highlights risks associated with inequate employee background checks by service apps and importance of thorough verification practices for all domestic services.
