The CBI has arrested alleged mastermind Brajesh Thakur's sanitation worker Gaurav, a resident of Karja in Muzaffarpur district, and produced him in the special court. The CBI team also produced the skeleton recovered from cremation ground which is suspected to be a minor girl, who was allegedly tortured leading to her death at the shelter home run by an NGO. Meanwhile, the court granted remand of 4 days for Gaurav to the CBI to conduct further investigation in the Muzaffarpur mass rape case.
Earlier on October 3, the CBI team dug the cremation ground in Muzaffarpur's Sikandarpur area. During the digging, the FSL team collected samples of the human skeleton which were sent to the laboratory for tests. The digging took place after information furnished by main kingpin Brajesh Thakur's driver Vijay who was arrested fortnight ago along with 3 others. Vijay was taken by the CBI to the cremation ground and according to his direction, the digging was initiated.
The process of digging was conducted in the presence of a Judicial Magistrate. When contacted, the CBI officials said the investigation is on and they cannot reveal much in this context.
Earlier in August, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated mass rape kingpin Brajesh Thakur's son Rahul Anand in the presence of a magistrate. The interrogation lasted for more than 8 hours, and as probe continued in the Bihar shelter home horror, sources informed Republic TV that the police have recovered a mobile phone and a paper with more than 40 mobile numbers written on it from Brajesh Thakur's jail hospital cell.
The recoveries raised questions as to who did Brajesh Thakur contact from the jail hospital. Notably, the RJD had hurled allegations that the kingpin was making phone calls from inside the jail hospital premises to influence the probe.
During the interrogation, the police had collected samples of documents from the Bihar shelter home and also made videos and ed pictures of the raid. The crucial documents have been seized from the shelter home in the presence of the magistrate.
Earlier, Republic TV had accessed shocking and horrifying victim testimonies from the other Muzaffarpur shelter, the Balika Grih, which is backed by state-funded (main accused) Brajesh Thakur-owned NGOs Sewa Sankalp and Vikas Samiti, where, as per the police, 34 of 42 rescued girls were either raped or molested. The victims, all of whom were minors and some of whom were as young as 7 years old, revealed to probe officers the atrocities they had been forcefully subjected to, including rape, sexual abuse, torture, the use of sleeping pills to facilitate sexual abuse by visitors, and even murder, as per three accounts.
