Nagaland Lokayukta gives sanction to police to charge sheet ex IAS officer

The Nagaland Lokayukta has given sanction to police to charge sheet a former IAS officer for her alleged involvement in illegal appointment of tourist officers and assistants, an official said.

A statement issued by the director of Nagaland Lokayukta Police, I Meyionen said here on Friday that Lokayukta Justice Uma Nath Singh has accorded prosecution sanction under the Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 2017 against Angau I Thou, retired Commissioner and Secretary, of Nagaland government.

Thou while working as Tourism department commissioner and secretary allegedly backdated appointment of tourist officers and assistants, it said. The statement said that Thou allegedly manipulated records and also violated the election model code of conduct while appointing the tourist officers and assistants.

The statement said that she be also charged under some sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Nagaland Lokayukta Police shall submit the charge sheet at the earliest, it added.
