India witnessed unveiling of world's largest Cricket stium on Wednesday as President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated 'refurbished' Motera stium, which will be w called 'Narendra Modi Stium'. Alongside capability to accommodate 1.32 lakh people for any sports event at Narendra Modi Stium, larger Sardar Patel Sports Enclave will comprise facilities like field and hockey stium, indoor sports halls/ arenas, natatorium, athletics/ track and field/ football stium/ velodrome/ skating area, beach volleyball facility and a boating centre among many or amenities that will d to magnificent structure's glory.

'Narendra Modi Stium' is spre across 63 acres inside Sardar Vallabhai Patel Sports Enclave that is spre across 215 acres. Rs 800 crore has been spent on construction of this stium that has surpassed hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground which can accommodate 90,000 spectators, PTI reported.

erstwhile Sardar Patel Stium that stood at same spot was closed for revation in 2015 and has w been completely redeveloped. It currently has 11 pitches that are me of black and red soil and is reportedly only stium in world to have surfaces like this. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju who was also present on occasion said, "We used to dream about world's largest stium in India and w as sports minister, my happiness kws bounds."

One of most interesting facilities in newly renamed stium is unique 'drain system' that Home Minister Amit Shah said will be helpful during matches that will be played here in rainy seasons. pitch will be rey in a matter of 30 minutes from time it stops raining, as all water will flow into se drains, Shah ded.

"Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and Narendra Modi Stium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built in Naranpura, and all three will be developed to host any international sports event including Olympics," Shah hinted.
