Bhartiya Janata Party spokesperson G. V. L. Narasimha Rao on Thursday slammed Congress leader Jairam Ramesh for using the word 'Trishul' to attack the BJP. While interacting with news agency ANI, BJP's Narsimha Rao condemned Jai Ram Ramesh's choice of words and said, " For the Congress party and its leaders it has become a habit to use every occasion to defame Hindu gods or goddesses. Jai Ram Ramesh could have attacked BJP or the government by using any word. But why link agencies of the government."
Adding further the BJP leader also questioned Jai Ram Ramesh. He asked, "Why to offer a political comment using Trishul? Trishul holds a very important significance as it is associated with Lord Shiva, but Jai Ram Ramesh has used the term 'Trishul' purposely. Why cant they (the congress part) make a political attack without bringing religion or religious symbols into it? I think it is a conspiratorial attack by the Congress party to defame the Hindu gods and goddesses every time."

The BJP leader also spoke about how this wasn't the first time Congress had used a religious reference to attack the BJP. He said, "This is not the first time for Jai Ram Ramesh to come up with such comments. Shashi Tharoor had also previously attacked the Prime Minister and described him as a 'scorpion on the Shiv Linga'.I expect Jai Ram Ramesh to withdraw his words and apologise".
