'Nation Wants Substance Not Slogans': PM Modi Slams Opposition Ahead of First Session
First session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday, June 24, with the national anthem in the new Parliament building.

New Delhi: Ahe of commencement of first session of 18th Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vocated for need of consensus in Parliament, as he slammed Opposition parties for disrupting functions of Parliament. nation wants substance and not just slogans, said PM Modi in his first remark ahe of 18th Lok Sabha.
First session of 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday, June 24, with national anm in new Parliament building as Prime Minister Modi took oath for third-time in a row. Prime Minister in his dress said that consensus is most important to run a country. “In last 10 years, we have always tried to implement a trition because we believe that a majority is required to run government but to run country a consensus is of utmost importance,” said PM Modi.

“So, it will be our constant efforts to serve Maa Bharti and fulfill aspirations and ambitions of 140 crore people, with everyone's consent and by taking everyone toger. We want to go ahe and speed up decisions by taking everyone toger, by maintaining sanctity of Constitution,” he ded.
Hitting out at opposition, PM Modi said that country expects good steps from Opposition inste of “drama” and “disturbance”. “ people of country expect good steps from opposition. I hope that opposition will live up to expectations of common citizens of country to maintain dignity of democracy. People do not want drama, disturbance. People want substance, not slogans.” he said.

PM Modi said that country needs a responsible opposition, as he congratulated newly-elected MPs. " country needs a good opposition, a responsible opposition and I have full faith that MPs who have won in this 18th Lok Sabha will try to fulfill se expectations of common man..." Prime Minister said. remarks come at a time when NDA government has won a third straight term, however, BJP fell short of majority.
