National Water Museum to be opened in Delhi: Jal Shakti Ministry

The Jal Shakti Ministry has announced that the Centre will set up a National Water Museum in Delhi & several satellite museums in different states across India

Jal Shakti Ministry on Friday has anunced that Centre will set up a National Water Museum in Delhi. In order to create awareness among people regarding diminishing water resources and need for conservation. Ministry will also set up several satellite museums in different states across country. Jal Shakti Ministry has taken an initiative to develop National Water Museum to raise awareness among people on conservation of natural resource.

Jal Shakti Ministry's statement

" Ministry has asked Delhi government to provide us with suitable land for setting up National Museum in Delhi. We will also be approaching different state government in due course to eir set up exclusive satellite museum or spare in ir existing museums to showcase water-related issues," said an official of Jal Shakti Ministry. Ministry had organised a two day International Workshop on Friday which will be attended by experts from India and abroad.

During workshop, possible broad composition, content of museum including highlighting importance of water and its current state in different regions of country, possible solutions, traditional and modern water manment practices, and localised success stories were discussed.

National Water Museum

purpose of museum is to explain visitors' importance of conserving water resources and also provide a possible solution, traditional and modern water manment practices. "Experts from Global Network of Water Museums are being consulted for this project," said officials. Global Network of Water Museum is an organisation that functions under Unesco's International Hydrological Programme (IHP). IHP is intergovernmental programme of UN system completely devoted to water research, water resources manment and education capacity building.
