Man Killed, 4-Year-Old Daughter Critically Injured After Drunk SUV Driver Crashes On Palm Beach Road

A tragic accident on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai on Thursday claimed the life of 40-year-old man and left his daughter critically injured.

Mumbai: A tragic drunk driving accident on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai has resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man and left his wife and four-year-old daughter critically injured. The incident occurred early on Thursday morning of November 7, at approximately 3:15 AM, when a speeding Mahindra car crashed into the rear of the victim’s Renault KWID.

According to police, the driver of the Mahindra car, identified as Omkar Vijay More (26), was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

The impact of the crash led to the fatality of the 40-year-old man, (Manish Pednekar).

His four-year-old daughter sustained severe injuries and is currently battling for her life at Apollo Hospital in Navi Mumbai.

Her condition remains critical. The victim's wife also suffered injuries in the crash.

Soon after the incident, More fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police,  he will be presented in court today as his two-day police custody ends today.

The police have charged Omkar Vijay More with multiple offenses, including culpable homicide driving under the influence of alcohol, rash and negligent driving and also sections under the Motor Vehicle Act.

In further investigations, police have found that the accused was attending a private party in Panvel and returning when the accident happened. A BBA graduate, Omkar Pawar (26), who helps his father in vegetable business at Byculla market, had attended a party in a Panvel based restaurant.

“He revealed that he had reached back by around 12.30 am and was at Darave to drop a friend and was at his place and after that he was going back home by around 3.30 am when the accident happened,” senior police inspector Brahmananda Naikwadi from Nerul police station said.
