NCB Crackdown On Drug Cartel: 3 Traffickers Arrested With 3,000 Cough Syrup Bottles in Mumbai

Mumbai: In a major success for anti-drug enforcement authorities, three drug traffickers who were part of an interstate drug cartel were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai with 3,000 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup (CBCS), an official said on Sunday.  

The three accused have been identified as SR Ahmed, M Aslam, and Y Khan.

Cough Syrup Bottles Worth Rs 15 lakh Recovered

After receiving an information tip related to the movement of drug traffickers, NCB mounted surveillance near the Ulhasnagar area of Thane and arrested them in the area.

According to officials, the recovered cough syrup bottles were worth Rs 15 lakhs. 

Earlier, The Narcotics Control Bureau of Mumbai arrested Sufiyan Khan, a key member of a drug syndicate on Wednesday morning after a prolonged operation to trace him.

Khan had been continually changing his hideouts and phone numbers and had gone into hiding since the Narcotics Control Bureau busted a drug syndicate in Navi Mumbai and seized 31.5 kg mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug, last month.
