NEET-PG 2024: Supreme Court to Hold Detailed Hearing on Transparency Pleas

Supreme Court on Friday said it will have a detailed hearing on pleas seeking disclosure of answer keys, question papers of NEET -PG 2024 held on August 11 in order to ensure transparency in selection process.
Lack of Standard Operating Procedure Sparks Concern
Appearing before a bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and Maj Misra, vocate Tanvi Dubey, representing some students, said information memorandum was t published and re was t even a standard operating procedure in place on how exams were conducted.

Petitions Challenge NBE’s “Arbitrary Actions” on Answer Key Disclosure
One of petitions, filed through Dubey, challenged “arbitrary action” on part of National Board of Examinations (NBE) for t releasing answer key and question paper.
It alleged re was option for a revaluation and rechecking in case of a difference in expected and actual marks. top court h previously questioned last-minute changes to NEET -PG, 2024 pattern by NBE, saying it was "very unusual" and students could have a "meltdown".

It h n sought responses of NBE and Centre within a week on petitions. students said issue pertained to last-minute changes in examination pattern, rmalisation of marks, disclosure of answer keys, and question papers of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Gruation ( NEET -PG) held on August 11.
Senior lawyer Vibha Datta Makhija, also representing students, submitted re were neir any rule r clarity and exam was split into two parts three days prior to test.

"re needs to be a standardised approach," said Makhija while pointing out regulations governed conduct of exams. "Everything was dependent on a single information bulletin which can be modified at whims and fancies of authorities," she h said.
Ar plea, filed by Ishika Jain and ors, sought disclosure of answer keys, question papers of NEET -PG, 2024, and standardisation of marks as test was split into two parts for ensuring transparency in selection process.

NEET -PG is conducted for missions in courses after MBBS and BDS. results, which were anunced by NBE on August 23, have led to concerns among students over unexpectedly low rankings.
Students Seek Grievance Portal for Ranking Discrepancies
After comparing scores with ufficial answer keys, many students raised a suspicion over discrepancies in ranking process and urged NBE to release official answer keys and sought setting up of a grievance portal.
NBE h t released eir question papers or answer keys without which candidates would t be able to assess ir performances in a transparent way, Makhija claimed.
