minister also cited country's "diverse" nature in terms of regional langus to stress benefits of having primary education in a child's mor tongue.

Speaking at inaugural session of Amity University's two-day conference on "Implementation of National Education Policy 2020 for Transforming India", he said re are awareness and excitement regarding implementation of NEP t only in county but also globally.

Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said country is resolved to achieve its objective in education.
"If you look at NEP from a wider horizon, policy is as national as it is international. It is impactful, inclusive and interactive. new education policy stands firm on foundations of equity, quality and accessibility," he said. He said NEP promotes mor tongue as a mode of education because it is considered that or langu can provide expression to a person as much as one's mor tongue.

"Primary education will be in mor tongue and later one may switch to or langus," Pokhriyal ded.
ting that some people h raised doubts over global appeal of new policy vis-a-vis use of English, he asked if countries like Japan, Germany, France, and Israel have lagged behind ors just because y stuck to ir mor tongue.

"se arguments do t make any sense," he said, stressing importance of education in mor tongue in a "diverse" country like India with several regional langus.
"This is t one man's or one government's education policy, it is education policy of a country which has provided leership to world," Pokhriyal ded.

minister told audience, including vice-chancellors of various universities and UGC officials, that implementation of policy is as crucial as policy itself.
