Daughters' Day in India
Daughter's Day, a designated day to celebrate the importance of the girl-child. It is celebrated every fourth Sunday of September in India. World Daughter's Day is celebrated on September 28. The significance of this day is that it serves as a reminder of the fact that daughters are an asset to our society and there should not be any patriarchal notions attached to their birth. Initially, Daughter's Day was celebrated to erase this stigma, this is mostly the case in developing countries where daughters are seen as a burden, on account of cultural practices like giving of dowry, etc
