Karnataka: 'No bandh in Kalaburagi tomorrow', says Police Commissioner
The police commissioner of Kalaburagi, Karnataka, has asserted that there will not be any bandh in the town on Thursday, December 19.

Kalaburagi Police Commissioner M N Nagaraj held that permission for a bandh will t be granted in Kalaburagi in connection to recruitment exams of different departments and to maintain law and order in city, on Wednesday, December 18.

A consortium of left-wing and Muslim organisations called Peoples Forum h called for a bandh in Gulbarga tomorrow, December 19, to protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act and police attack on students at Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University.
Kalaburagi Police Commissioner told ncies in this view that, '' bandh allowed in Kalaburagi city tomorrow in view of recruitment exams of different departments also to maintain law and order and communal harmony in city.”
consortium of left-wing and Muslim organizations in city h dressed a press conference and h earlier appealed to people of city to ensure that a total bandh is carried out successfully. CPI leer Maruti Manpe, senior Dalit leer Vittal Doddamani, Janata Dal(S) leer Naseer Hussain Ust and State vice-president of Jamiat Ahle Hees Baba Nazar Mohamm Khan were among top leers involved in consortium.

Maruti Manpe told ncies that members of NEKRTC Employees Union and Autorickshaw Drivers Union will be participating in protest. He also requested educational institutions to declare a holiday and appealed to commercial enterprises to close down ir establishments to support bandh.

As a precautionary measure, nearly 20 activists who h called for bandh have been arrested in Gulbarga today, December 18. Among those, are Dalit and mirity community leers from Peoples Forum.
Peoples Forum is going to take out a procession from Jagat Circle to Super Market area and le a protest march from Central Bus Stand to Deputy Commissioners office.
