New Delhi: Noida police on September 22 engaged in a shootout with a wanted gangster who had a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The encounter took place near the GIP Cut Expressway during a covert operation aimed at apprehending the suspect under the Gangster Act.

Police received a tip-off and under the supervision of ACP Praveen Singh initiated a checking campaign. While conducting the operation, they spotted a man on a white scooter approaching from Delhi.

When officers signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee towards Greater Noida, leading the police on a chase. The suspect eventually veered into the Botanical Garden green belt but lost control of his scooter and fell.

In a desperate move, he opened fire on the police team. The police responded, injuring him in the leg. The suspect was identified as Ajay, alias Ramniwas, a 39-year-old resident of Uttarakhand, and wanted in connection with multiple criminal cases, including thefts and armed robbery.

Police recovered an illegal 315-bore firearm with one live cartridge, a spent cartridge, and the white scooter, which was reported stolen from Delhi. He has a lengthy criminal history with numerous cases registered against him in Sector 39.

The injured gangster was transported to a hospital for treatment, while further investigations are underway.
