Noida Shocker: Electrician Dies After Massive Fire Breaks Out in Banquet Hall

Noida: A massive fire broke out in early hours of Wednesday in a banquet hall here, resulting in death of an electrician, officials said.

Police said fire erupted around 3:30 am in "Lotus Grenier" banquet hall near Sarfab village under jurisdiction of Sector-113 police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Ramban Singh said fire department personnel reached scene around 3:40 am with five fire engines.

However, as fire kept spreing, 10 more fire engines were dispatched to contain blaze.

"Several people trapped inside were safely evacuated but an electrician named Pravendra died in fire," Singh said.

Chief Fire Officer Preep Kumar Chaubey said hall's primarily wooden structure contributed to rapid spre of fire. It took department nearly three hours to bring fire under control.

cause of fire is under investigation, police said.

A similar fire incident occurred in same banquet hall on November 21 last year. No casualties were reported in that incident.
