‘Not Party Stand': BJP Distances From Kangana Ranaut's Farmers' Protest Remark
"The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers' movement does not reflect the party's official position," the BJP said.
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued a firm rebuttal on Monday to remarks made by its Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut, who had compared the recent farmer protests to the Bangladesh crisis. The party's statement clarified that Ranaut’s comments do not align with the BJP's official stance.
"The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers' movement does not reflect the party's official position," the BJP said. “The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with Kangana Ranaut's statement. The party clarifies that Kangana Ranaut is neither permitted nor authorized to speak on policy issues on behalf of the BJP.”
The statement further emphasized that Ranaut has been instructed by the BJP to avoid making such statements in the future. The party reiterated its commitment to the principles of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas' and to fostering social harmony.
What did Kangana Ranaut say?
Kangana Ranaut claimed that the farmers' protests could have resulted in a Bangladesh-like situation if the Union government had not taken action. She alleged that “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place” during the farmers' protest against the now-repealed three farm laws.
LoP Rahul Gandhi slams Ranaut's remark
Coming down heavily on Kangana Ranaut’s remarks, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, in a post on social platform X said,"The propaganda machinery of the Modi government, which has failed to fulfil the promises made to the farmers, is continuously engaged in insulting the farmers."
“The BJP MP calling the farmers who sacrificed 700 comrades during the 378-day marathon struggle as rapists and representatives of foreign forces is another proof of the BJP's anti-farmer policy and intentions,” he added.
“These shameful anti-farmer statements are a gross insult to the farmers of the entire country, including western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, which cannot be accepted under any circumstances. The government committee formed at the time of withdrawing the farmers' movement is still in cold storage, the government has not been able to clarify its stand on MSP till date, no relief has been given to the families of the martyred farmers and on top of that, their character assassination is continuing,” Rahul Gandhi said.
