Now, Sena to get '50:50' offer from NCP; Pawar wants Cong in alliance

In a major development in the political scenario in Maharashtra, according to NCP sources, the party is convincing Congress to give inside support to NCP-Shiv Sena rather than outside support. The Sharad Pawar-led party also wants Congress to be a part of the government. The sources have also said that NCP has demanded for a 50-50 formula with Shiv Sena in which there will be a rotational CM from both the parties. However, it is said that the Congress leaders in Maharashtra have not agreed. The meeting is currently underway at the YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai.

President's rule in Maharashtra

President Ram Nath Kovind, on Tuesday, has accepted the Maharashtra Governor's recommendation and implemented President's rule in the state. Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that now Maharashtra assembly is under suspended animation after the President officially signed the order. If no party stakes claim within six months, fresh elections will be held in the state.

Guv recommends prez rule

Earlier, the Governor had confirmed that he had recommended the same and submitted a report to the President, via MHA, according to the provisions of Art. 356 of the Constitution. The Governor is of opinion that no party - be it BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress or NCP - can give a stable government in the state, and took the decision after the NCP sought more time to form a government.

Union Cabinet approves

Meanwhile, a Prime Minister Narendra Modi-chaired cabinet meeting has approved President's rule in the state. Prime Minister Modi's departure to Brazil to attend the 11th BRICS summit on November 13 and 14 was delayed to accommodate the meeting.

Sena challenges move in SC, Sibal to represent

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has already approached the Supreme Court challenging the Governor's recommendation. A 26-page petition has been filed by the Shiv Sena against the Centre and has made Congress and NCP - the parties to the petition.  Shiv Sena has approached senior Congress leader and advocate Kapil Sibal to represent the party in the Supreme Court. Shiv Sena has challenged the inadequate time allotted to the party by the Governor to form a government as it failed to cobble up a coalition with the NCP-Congress support.
