New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is set to visit Moscow on September 10 and 11, where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ongoing peace efforts and strategies for resolving Russia's conflict with Ukraine, as per reports.

NSA Doval is carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's plan to Kremlin for peace on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine in the region, as per the sources.

BRICS's NSA Meet in Moscow

Doval's visit coincides with the BRICS NSA meeting. In addition to attending the BRICS summit, he will hold bilateral talks with his Russian and Chinese counterparts, potentially continuing discussions from the July summit in Moscow.

BRICS is an informal coalition of 10 countries which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

The most recent BRICS NSA meeting took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2023, where Doval also represented India.

Putin's Call for India's Role in Peace

President Putin has called for India's involvement in peace negotiations in the ongoing war with Ukraine  and also underscored India's potential role in resolving the conflict.  "Are we ready to negotiate with them? We have never refused, but we seek negotiations based on agreed documents, not on fleeting demands," Putin stated.

Putin stated that China, India, and Brazil might serve as mediators in future peace talks about Ukraine.

Putin's call for peace comes after Russian and Ukrainian negotiators reached an agreement in the first weeks of the war in Turkey, which was never implemented but could serve as the basis for talks.
