NSG well-equipped, will tackle any situation: Director General Deshwal
NSG Director General (DG) SS Deshwal said that the NSG is completely equipped and prepared to handle any critical situation, including terrorist attacks.

On the occasion of the 35th National Security Guard (NSG) Raising Day in Manesar on Tuesday, October 15, the commandos of the 52 Special Action Group demonstrated their preparedness for a future operation. NSG Director General (DG) SS Deshwal said the NSG is completely equipped and prepared to handle any critical situation, including terrorist attacks.

"NSG is an elite striking force in the country, established in 1984. We have six operational centres, which have full capability to handle all situations like a terrorist attack, hijacking, and hostage captivity among others," Deshwal said.

The NSG has also opened a hub in Srinagar to tackle any outward situation that arises said Deshwal. The NSG operations display was also marked by the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other dignitaries. Highlighting the increased instances of arms smuggling from across the border Deshwal said that the Indian Army and BSF are well equipped to put an end to the issue. However, he also assured that if required the NSG will gladly contribute to tackle the situation.
"The situation along the border of Punjab is being looked after by the Army and the BSF, which are very much capable to handle any situation. The NSG too has the capability to identify the movement of drones on a day and night basis and neutralise it," said Deshwal.

When asked about any possible terror attacks and preparedness of NSG personnel, Deshwal said that the capability was well displayed. He also assured that all information was shared with several security agencies.
"We have shown our capability and whatever information was received by us regarding terrorist attack we have shared that information with all security agencies. We are capable of tackling such attacks and we share more information about the incidents after neutralising the imminent threats."

NSG ops demonstration
The NSG displayed several skillsets when it comes to neutralizing armed suspects and conducting hostage rescue operations. It displayed a drill where NSG commandos swiftly tackle the terrorists in case of a school situation. Moreover, it also displayed the preparedness when it comes to hostage rescue. However, the main part of the demonstration was the use of sniffer and well-trained attack dogs used to take down suspects who are fleeing. In addition, the NSG also displayed its bomb-defusing and disposal techniques.
About NSG
The NSG is a counter-terrorism unit, under the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs. It was raised in 1984. The NSG has a history of taking part in many missions. Some of these include Akshardham Temple attack and Operation Black Tornado.
