Odisha: Indian Navy to showcase Maritime capabilities at Puri Beach on Navy Day

New Delhi: Indian Navy is set to demonstrate its formidable maritime capabilities and operational strength at Blue Flag Beach of Puri in Odisha on occasion of Navy Day on December 4, officials expressed on Saturday.

President Droupi Murmu has approved to be chief guest for event, a Navy spokesperson said in a statement.

This event showcases Navy's multifaceted competencies, enhances maritime awareness among citizens and hours India's rich maritime herit.

2024 'Operational Demonstration' or 'Op Demo' is set to be held against backdrop of pristine Blue Flag Beach that symbolises connection between Indian Navy and maritime legacy of state of Odisha, statement said.

Puri received Blue Flag Beach certification a few years ago.

Blue Flag designation signifies an eco-tourism model aimed at providing beachgoers with clean and hygienic bathing facilities, a safe environment, and sustainable development practices.

Indian Navy said it is working closely with Odisha government and local authorities to ensure smooth execution of event.

Seating arrangements would be me to accommodate local spectators and tourists, offering everyone a chance to witness live demonstration from beach.

event will also be brocast live on national television and streamed via Indian Navy's YouTube channel to reach a wider audience, it ded.

In 2022, Murmu witnessed operational demonstration by Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on December 4.
