Delhi Govt Bans BS-III Petrol, BS-IV Diesel Vehicles To Combat Air Pollution

Following the directives of the Commission for Air Quality Management, the Delhi government banned the old BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles.

New Delhi: Following directives of Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Delhi government announced a ban on operation of old BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles (LMVs) within city. ditionally, diesel-operated medium goods vehicles (MGVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) registered outside Delhi, with emission standards of BS-III or below, are prohibited from entering Delhi, except for those transporting essential commodities or providing essential services. According to officials, Delhi's worsening air quality has reached severe levels, prompting government to take measures to reduce pollution. 

Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed Delhi government to ban operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles within city. ditionally, diesel-operated medium goods vehicles and light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi with emission standards of BS-III or below are prohibited from entering Delhi, except for those transporting essential commodities or providing essential services.

government has also enforced Stage III of Gred Response Action Plan (GRAP), which includes halting private construction and demolition activities and announcing staggered office timings for smoor traffic flow. Furrmore, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has announced ditional public transport measures, including 106 shuttle buses to facilitate commuting, 60 extra trips by Delhi Metro daily, and 40 dedicated shuttle buses for government officials to discourage private vehicle use.

Violators of vehicle ban will face fines of Rs 20,000, and 84 enforcement teams and 280 ditional personnel will monitor compliance. ditionally, classes up to Gre 5 will transition to online learning starting next week, and private schools will apt using smart boards and apps. Delhi government has taken se measures to reduce pollution and improve air quality, which remains a significant concern for health and well-being of residents.
