Om Birla arrives in Leh for 'Parliamentary Outreach Program', to visit Pangong Lake

The release from Lower House read that the 'Parliamentary Outreach Programme' for the Empowerment of the Panchayati Raj was a unique initiative by Om Birla.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived in Leh, Lakh on Thursday. He will be inaugurating Parliamentary Outreach Programme for Empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Union Territory on August 27. An official statement issued by Lok Sabha office said that Birla would also visit Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley to meet Panchayat representatives.

chairperson of Parliamentary Committees, members of Parliament, chairmen of Lakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh and Kargil, and or eminent dignitaries will grace occasion. Delegates who signed up for this event have alrey started arriving in Lakh for programme.

press release from Lok Sabha said in a statement that 'Parliamentary Outreach Programme for Empowerment of Panchayati Raj institutions in Leh, Lakh was a unique initiative of Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla. "A first of its kind program. It is intended to strengn institutions of governance and planning at grass-root level,"  statement re. Om Birla while speaking to ANI about programme said, "Development will be done as per geological requirements of Lakh. This effort would also be taken to make local population 'Atma Nirbhar'. Tourism will be bolstered to generate employment opportunities for locals." Since Union territory (UT) of Lakh depends mostly on Tourism, Om thought that this idea would furr open up new job opportunities for UT and help get more people employed. This initiative would furr boost PM Modi's 'Atma Nirbhar' plan.

3rd Outreach Programme of its kind

me of third edition of this programme taking place in Leh Lakh is termed as "Parliamentary Outreach Program for Empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions". organising body informed that 195 representatives from Panchayati Raj institutions will be attending programme. ideas that will be discussed in this programme will revolve around following:

  • Creating mass awareness/participation;
  • Creation of a sense of ownership of assets that have been built;
  • Fuelling ambition of grass-root political leers for democratic values;

Previous Outreach programmes

first Outreach Programme was organised at Dehrun, Uttarakhand on January 8. event recorded physical attendance of 445 Panchayat representatives physically and approximately, and 40,000 ors h joined it through a video conference. second Outreach Programme was organised at Shillong on 26 February for state of Meghalaya and or North Eastern states. That particular event was physically attended by 115 members of local bodies.
