'COVID-19 warriors deserve accolades for fighting the pandemic selflessly': LS Speaker

Om Birla said that the 'coronavirus warriors' deserve accolades and support of all stakeholders in the national strategy to contain the spread of the virus

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday said that 'coronavirus warriors' deserve accoles and support of all stakeholders in nationwide fight to contain spre of virus. Birla said that health workers, sanitation personnel, security personnel and several or groups have been fighting difficult battle selflessly for sake of nation, and urged people to extend support to se 'warriors'.

 "India has been reasonably successful in its efforts to contain spre of this virus and with cooperation of people nation shall be able to defeat this disease," said Om Birla.

He furr said that Lok Sabha Secretariat is in touch with all MPs, who in turn are leing efforts within ir constituencies to spre awareness about disease and to ensure that people are undertaking all precautions. This statement from Birla comes when re is a rise in attacks on healthcare workers and police personnel in country.

President Ram Nath Kovind also came forward to express gratitude to police, armed forces and security personnel for ir cour and determination.

Taking to Twitter, President stated that internally, police forces are ensuring lockdown with sensitivity and professionalism and ded that forces are securing us against cross-border terrorism

According to latest update from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, number of total Coronavirus cases in country has climbed to 17,265, including 14,175 active cases. While 543 deaths have been reported overall, around 2,547 people have been cured/discharged/migrated. Meanwhile, Maharashtra and Delhi have highest number of cases in country.
