The Yeti is also known in popular culture as 'The Abominable Snowman', owing to descriptions and unverified first person accounts of its large size and terrifying nature. It is elusive to the point of being mythical and is frequently cited in Nepalese and Tibetan folklore. It is usually described as being furry and ape-like, a snow counterpart to 'Big Foot' a similar mythical creature that is said to inhabit North America.
