Only inoculated people can buy grocery, fuel: Aurangabad issues order to boost vaccination

In order to boost vaccination drive in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, district administration has come up with a unique solution, as district collector passed an order stating that only vaccinated people will be able to purchase groceries, ration, gas cylinders and fuel in district.

officials on Wednesday informed that decision was approved by district collector, Sunil Chavan, on Tuesday night, where authorities of fair price shops, gas ncies, and petrol pump manrs were directed to check vaccination certificates of customers and n sell products to those who were at least vaccinated with one dose.

Speaking on same, Aurangabad Collector Chavan said, "If order is t followed, administration will take action against person/s concerned under Disaster Manment Act and Epidemic Diseases Act," he said.
Earlier, collector had passed an order to dismiss unvaccinated people from visiting tourist destinations and historic monuments in Aurangabad. decision was anunced after vaccination figures of district were found to be low. collector had n placed a ban on entry of unvaccinated individuals, in order to push m to take jab.

While speaking to PTI on same, an official told that administration had also extended vaccination drive in state to evenings, in order to provide people with more time to get jabbed. official added decision was taken after considering that most of people in state worked in fields during day.

"Many people work in agricultural fields from morning to evening. Hence, to facilitate ir iculation, Zilla Parishad will undertake vaccination from 5 pm to 8 pm in district," Zilla Parishad's health officer Sudhakar Shekle told PTI.
According to health official, first such campaign was held on Tuesday in Kaygaon vill, which is located on Aurangabad-Ahmednagar district border, and 100 doses were administered to people. Aurangabad district administration has taken significant measures to improve pace of vaccination in area as only 55% of eligible population has been vaccinated so far, as compared to 74% in entire state. At present, Aurangabad ranks 26th in terms of vaccination among 36 districts in state.
