Open Instigation By Mamata, Says She No Longer Believes In Her Earlier Slogan of ‘Change No Revenge’
Ahead of the 2011 elections, Mamata Banerjee had raised the slogan ‘Bodla noy, Bodol chai’ (We don’t want revenge, we want change).
Kolkata/New Delhi: Amid the escalating protests over the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a recent rally, appeared to shift her stance on retaliation. This change contrasts sharply with her previous position, where she denounced revenge and vowed to address issues through change.
Ahead of the 2011 elections, in which the TMC managed to overthrow the 34-year-old Left regime, Banerjee had raised the slogan ‘Bodla noy, Bodol chai’ (We don’t want revenge, we want change).
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) IT cell head, criticized Banerjee for what he termed a “brazen” change in her position.
Malviya alleged that Banerjee, who had previously championed the "Bodol noy, Bodla Chai" (No Revenge, We Seek Change) mantra, is now openly advocating for vengeance. During a rally earlier today, Banerjee encouraged her supporters to "retaliate" and "bite back," remarks that were met with fervent applause from the TMC hooligans.
“Once a proponent of the ‘Bodol noy, Bodla Chai’ mantra, Mamata Banerjee now brazenly shifted her stance, openly calling for the very vengeance, she once purported to abhor. From the rally today, she incites her supporters to 'retaliate' and 'bite back,' - a clarion call of Bodla, that was met with fervent applause from the TMC hooligans,” wrote Malviya in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“It is now glaringly evident that she finds herself cornered by the mounting backlash from the people of Bengal. Consequently, the 'Bodla' politics, which she previously advocated behind closed doors with her cadre—leading to post-election violence and a surge in organized crime—has now been exposed in the public domain,” Malviya said.
He further alleged that the shift is a result of Mamata’s “fraying temper, as the edifice of her power trembles, under the weight of Bengal's burgeoning frustration.”

"When we came to power, we used the slogan ,' Badla noy, bodol chai' (We want change, not Revenge), today I'm telling you something different, do what you think would be the best. I don't want violence , but if someone is plotting against you and biting you, you may not bite them back but you would at least hiss at them, is it not? A snake asked Ramkrishna Paramhans, sire you forbade me to bite anyone but there are many who throw rocks at me , bleed me. I'm hurt. To which Ramkrishna Thakur replied, I've asked you not to bite but you can always hiss at them. Your job is to remove the mask of those who plot against us and hiss at them. Learn to hiss at them,” said Mamata Banerjee earlier today.

12-hour ‘Bangla Bandh’ in West Bengal
The BJP is observing a 12-hour “Bangla Bandh” in West Bengal today to protest police action against protesters who participated in the 'Nabanna Abhijan' rally on Tuesday. Daily life was partially affected across the state as BJP workers tried stopping rail and bus services leading to police action. Schools and colleges remain open, though attendance has fallen.
