'Our Phones Being Tapped': Himachal LoP Jairam Thakur Claims Sukhu Govt Conducting Surveillance
Himachal Opposition leader Jairam Thakur alleged that the Sukhu government is doing phone tapping of local BJP leaders in the state. CM Sukhu denied allegations
Shimla: The Leader of Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Jairam Thakur on Friday alleged that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu-led Congress government in the state is doing surveillance on the BJP leaders adding that their phones are being tapped by the state machinery.
Saw Drone Above My House, Claims Jairam Thakur
“This government is violating privacy. Phones are already being tapped, and now drones are also being used for surveillance. The CM should have answered on this but he was silent on this,” Jairam Thakur told reporters.
Himachal Govt Trying To Suppress Matter
"This incident is not just of today, we have seen it (drones) many times before. Today when the drone was seen, we thought it appropriate to say our point in the assembly but the irresponsible manner in which the Chief Minister responded is very unfortunate. We believe that the government is trying to suppress this matter and drones are being used for deliberate surveillance. When they were repeatedly taking this issue lightly, we walked out of the House over this issue. They do not respond to our issues," the former CM was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Sukhu Denies Allegations
Dismissing the allegations that his government is spying on the Leader of the Opposition using drones, Sukhu called these accusations "baseless" and assured that the government would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Sukhu accused Jairam Thakur, the Leader of Opposition, of "leaving the House without paying attention to any of the proceedings" and claimed that Thakur is using such tactics to remain in the spotlight
