Pakistani National Arrested at Rajasthan Border Amid Concerns Over Security Lapses
A Pakistani national, Jagsi Koli, was arrested in Rajasthan's Barmer district after crossing the border, raising concerns about security lapses.
The Border Security Force (BSF) and local police have apprehended a suspected Pakistani national in the border district of Barmer, Rajasthan, raising serious security concerns. Jagsi Koli, 21, who identified himself as a resident of Aakli village in Kharodi district, Pakistan, was detained on Sunday from the Naya Taal border post under the Sedwa police station area.
Koli’s arrest followed a search operation triggered by the discovery of footprints during routine patrolling and surveillance. The BSF team tracked the footprints to Jadpa village, where Koli was apprehended. The suspect had reportedly crossed into India during the night of August 24-25.
Confirming the incident, Kritika Yadav, Circle Officer in Chohtan, stated, “A Pakistani national has been caught from the bordering area. We are awaiting the official report from the BSF before proceeding with the case.”
The timing of Koli’s arrest, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s visit to the region, has intensified scrutiny over border security. Experts are questioning how an individual managed to cross the border despite the presence of fencing along the Indo-Pak international border.
There is speculation that Koli’s infiltration could be part of a ‘dry run’ exercise by Pakistani agencies to test India’s border vigilance and identify potential breaches. This incident echoes similar cases from the past, including the September 2019 arrest of Bhalchand from Dhoranada village and the January 2016 arrest of Sabir Ali near Kalre ka Tala village, both of whom crossed the border but were apprehended without crossing the fencing.
The BSF is continuing its interrogation of Koli to determine the motives behind his crossing and whether there are any larger implications for border security.
