Pakistani-origin woman receives Indian citizenship after 35 years
Zubeda, a Pakistani-born woman, has finally been granted Indian citizenship after living in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh on an extended visa for the 35 years

A Pakistani woman, Zubeda, has finally been granted Indian citizenship after 35 years. Zubeda has lived in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, for years now on a long term visa. According to a local intelligence official, 55-year-old Zubeda had married Syed Mohammad Zaved who is a resident of Yogenderpur, about 35 years ago.

Pakistani woman gets Indian citizenship
After Zubeda had married Syed Mohammad Zaved, she had immediately applied for citizenship. However, at that point in time, her request was denied on legal grounds. Therefore, she has been staying in the country on a long-term visa since 1994. 55-year-old Zubeda now has two daughters. 30-year-old Rumesha and 26-year-old Zumesha, both of whom are married. According to recent data, about 25 Pakistani married women are living in the Muzzaffarnagar district on a long-term visa.

What Indian citizenship entails
On receiving the Indian citizenship a person can apply for Aadhaar, a ration card, and a voter ID. This will provide an individual with the necessary assistance to make day-to-day life simpler. A citizen of India can apply for a passport. With the help of an Aadhaar card, a passport can be made in 10 days. The Aadhaar Card can also be linked with voter ID with the help of which it would become impossible for a person to issue multiple voter IDs. The ration card is also a document issued by the Government of India which is a proof of nationality. Through the ration card, a citizen can retrieve ration at a subsidised rate depending on the economic background of the person. Some of the state Governments have also issued E-cards through EPDS (Electronic Public Distribution System) which is an advanced system to locate the details of goods and its availability. All these forms of documents are reliable forms of identification, which have been designed to be of help to the citizens of India.
