In a joint press brief by Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh in Srinagar they revealed that they had intelligence inputs that there were attempts of attacks on Amarnath Yatra by Pakistan and that they had recovered IEDs and US made Sniper rifle in the route of the Amarnath Yatra.
Speaking in the press conference, Lt General KJS Dhillon said that Pakistan Army landmine has been recovered from one of the caches of terrorists. He added that it clearly indicates that Pakistan Army is involved in terrorism in Kashmir and declared that it will not be tolerated. IG CRPF Zulfiqar Hasan added on same lines,

"Amarnath Yatra has seen unprecedented turnout and inspite of many threats it has been peaceful, there have been serious attempts to disrupt the yatra but it has been unsuccessful due to the hard work of security personnel, use of technology and cooperation of people."

Lt General KJS Dhillon also added, "In the last 3 to 4 days, the very specific and confirmed intelligence reports that terrorist backed by Pakistan Army and Pakistan are trying to distrupt the Yatra and based on that thorough search on both the routes, by a combined team of Army, CRPF and JKP carried out an extensive search on the route. For the last 3 days these searches are going on. We have had major successes in the searches. Some IDs have been recovered, cashes of ammunition, explosives and weapons have been recovered. Pakistan Army's mine has been recovered from these searches
As a proof of Pakistan's involvement in speading terror in Kashmir valley, the forces showed mine belonging to Pakistani army that had been recovered and a US made sniper rifle. "An M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope was also recovered from a terror cache along Shri Amarnath ji route."

Meanwhile, J&K DGP Dilbag Singh said the overall number of active militants in the Valley and in Jammu region has come down. "We had done an in-depth analysis of terrorism in Kashmir. 83 per cent of local people who pick up weapons had record of stone pelting. I request all mothers, if today your child throws stones at security forces for Rs 500 then he'll become terrorist tomorrow," KJS Dhillon said.

Government issues advisory for Amarnnath Yatris
JK administration issues advisory to tourists and yatris and asks them to cut short their visit in view of 'safety and security of the yatris' and leave state of Jammu & Kashmir in view of terror threats after army's press conference. Here is the advisory:
Amarnath Yatra:
Amid tight security, the Amarnath yatra was flagged off by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal and Gandetbal Additional Deputy Commissioner Shafaqat. Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik's advisor K K Sharma flagged off the first batch of devotees for Amarnath Yatra after performing puja at the Jammu base camp on Sunday. The Amarnath Yatra is conducted every year during Shravani Mela, which starts from July and continues till August. The Yatra takes place from the traditional 36-km Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The holy cave remains open during this period and it attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year.
