Pan Am chronicler pays tribute to Neerja Bhanot on death anniversary

A chronicler of Pan America World Airways remembered hero Neerja Bhanot on Thursday who saved lives during a hijacking of its flight Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986.

A chronicler of Pan America World Airways remembered hero Neerja Bhanot on Thursday who saved lives during a hijacking of its flight Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986. Called the Pan Am on Twitter, the account recalled her act of bravery on the fateful event when she sacrificed her life trying to save the passengers. The account said it was grateful towards the crew who braved through the hijacking of the plane and helped rescue the lives of fliers. It also retweeted several tributes to the Ashoka Chakra recipient.

Sonam Kapoor's tribute to Neerja Bhanot 

Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'Neerja' brought to the big screen the real-life story of a courageous young flight attendant Neerja Bhanot.
The actor who played the role of the braveheart in the 2016 biopic paid homage to Bhanot on her death anniversary on Thursday. Neerja passed away on September 5, 1986. Remembering the courageous woman, Sonam took to her Instagram to share a heartfelt post in the honour of Neerja, saluting her heroism and bravery - "Her life was a gift to us all. RememberingNeerjaBhanot."

About Late Neerja Bhanot

Neerja Bhanot, in public memory, is known to be a domestic abuse survivor who etched her name among the bravehearts in India. In 1986, when the aeroplane Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi, Pakistan, she was killed by the terrorists as she went above and beyond her duty as the head of flight crew of Pan American World Airways to rescue the passengers. She is said to have saved the lives of 360 passengers on the airline. Bhanot, who also had a career in modelling, was honoured by American and Pakistani governments for her act.
