The Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman, Venkaiah Naidu, met the floor leaders on Sunday ahead of the commencement of the Winter Session of Parliament. This comes after the BJP Parliamentary Executive Committee meeting took place in the Parliament library building on Sunday morning. Apart from this, an all-party meeting called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi also took place on the same day.
Om Birla after concluding the Saturday all-party meeting
Ahead of the winter session of the parliament, the speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla also convened an all-party meeting, on Saturday. This winter session in the Parliament is the second session since Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to the office with a bigger majority for a second successive term. After the meeting, Om Birla addressed the media and said that he is hoping for the smooth and systematic functioning of the upcoming winter session.

Addressing the media after the all-party meeting, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla said, “There has been a discussion with the ministers of the floor. We will try to put forth their grievances in front of the business advisory committee and eventually discuss it during the parliamentary proceedings. All the parties have shown their faith in the forthcoming session of the 17th Lok Sabha proceedings. The way in which the first session went, the way all the leaders supported various causes, I hope the winter session is also as smooth as the previous one”.

Likely discussions in the winter session
According to reports, the Winter session of Parliament is likely to see the opposition parties raising the issues of their concerns. Meanwhile, the BJP is expected to take forward its legislative agenda during the session and several bills. Further reports stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is also expected to introduce the Personal Data Protection Bill. The bill deals with the handling and processing of consumer data by corporate entities while introducing restrictions and penalties.
