Paswan showcases new indigenously made bullet-resistant jackets
Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that India has started indigenously manufacturing its own bullet-resistant jackets under the Make in India initiative

Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, on Saturday, has said that India has started manufacturing its own bulletproof jackets like United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. Paswan said that these domestic bullet-resistant jackets are safer, lighter, cheaper than any international manufacturing. He also stated that these jackets are even being exported.

Paswan took to Twitter and shared pictures of the indigenously-made bulletproof jackets. Paswan said that the jackets made by Bureau of India Standard (BIS) were exported to over a hundred countries. Additionally, these jackets also proved to be capable deterrents against small arms to assault rifles like AK 47.
"Under the BIS standards, bulletproof jackets being made in Indian Ordnance Factory and private companies are in demand in the Army, Paramilitary forces and State Police. It is exported to more than 100 countries. It is also capable of handling small weapons ranging from AK 47 rifles."

The jackets clearly match up to the international standards. Also, the jackets are quite lightweight and economically feasible.

"BIS has created a world-class standard for bulletproof jackets which is better than international standards. India is the fourth country in the world to produce bulletproof standards. Under this, jackets made in the country are very light in weight, which is good for movement of jawans. Its price is also very low."
