Indian unit of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), prolific for being a premier organisation fighting for rights of animals, has appreciated Andhra Presh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for launching India's first online waste exchange platform. Through this, government authorities can monitor movement of hazardous waste in real-time using tools incorporated in platform.
Tweeting about this one-of-a-kind initiative taken up by Andhra Presh government, official handle of PETA India, said, "Thank you @ysjagan, we are sure this will help animals too."

On World Environment Day on June 5, Jagan launched Andhra Presh Environment Manment Corporation (APEMC). state has a huge chunk of industries which are marked under red and orange categories, which generate significant quantities of liquid waste, hazardous and n-hazardous solid waste and air pollutants. industries also generate a lot of e-waste among forms of junk, which needs to be dressed properly.
state government observed that waste manment sector is t equately organised to cater to total quantity of waste being generated by industries. Hence, re was a requirement for appropriate system intervention to streamline, man and scientifically dispose of generated waste.

To resolve existing insufficiency in managing waste generated and making waste manment market more organised, APEMC as a government company to handle industrial waste, from its generation until end of its lifecycle.

Accordingly, Environment, Forests, Science & Techlogy (EFS&T) Department, Government of Andhra Presh, vide G.O. Ms. . 39 dt: 05.12.2019 issued orders for formation of APEMC.
" APEMC will work in close coordination with Andhra Presh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), with a strong regulatory framework to handle waste from crle to grave. APPCB will consider and make necessary provisions for industries and organisations to hand over waste generated by ir units, which cant be treated within ir premises, to APEMC for manment of waste, in accordance with Environmental Rules & Regulations," said state government.
APEMC will track waste till it is disposed of off safely while working with industries to implement 6 Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refurbish, Redesign and Remanufacture.
