Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 29 addressed nation about situation prevailing due to coronavirus outbreak in his radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. This was third time PM Modi was speaking about coronavirus crisis. This was Modi's first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ show since nationwide lockdown began from 25th March. Modi discussed issue with survivors of coronavirus, doctors. He saluted health workers for ir role in fighting coronavirus.
He said: "re are many soldiers who are fighting Coronavirus, t from ir homes but from outside ir homes. se are our front line soldiers-especially our brors and sisters on duty as nurses, doctors & paramedical staff."

Prime Minister also apologised for inconvenience caused due to lockdown. " battle against COVID-19 is a tough one and it did require such harsh decisions. It is important to keep people of India safe. My apologies to poor for hardships due to coronavirus lockdown. I apologise for taking se harsh steps which have caused difficulties in your lives, especially poor people. I kw some of you would be angry with me also. But se tough measures were needed to win this battle," he said.

Coronavirus in India
As of March 29, India has reported 898 cases so far, and 19 deaths. To tackle growing cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposed a nationwide lockdown for 21 days. highest number of cases have been reported from Maharashtra - 186 cases and Kerala - 182 cases.
Prime Minister Modi established a dedicated national fund with primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation, like posed by COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to affected, a public charitable trust under name of ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund’ (PM CARES Fund).
