PM Modi discusses COVID-19 situation with Palestinian President over phone call

PM Modi held a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on April 14 where they discussed the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on April 14 where y discussed challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic. PM Modi also conveyed greetings for forthcoming holy month of Ramadan to Abbas and people of Palestine.

During phone call, both leaders agreed to remain in touch at appropriate level to explore avenues of cooperation as pandemic has caused a major public health crisis. y also exchanged details on steps taken by respective countries to control spread of virus.

PM Modi appreciated efforts of Palestinian authorities and assured all possible support from India to contain deadly virus. Palestine has reported over 300 confirmed cases of coronavirus and two deaths so far while India has over 10,500 COVID-19 cases with 31 deaths reported in last 24 hours taking overall death toll to 358.

Discussion with world leaders

Prime Minister has been holding a series of discussion with foreign leaders over phone calls to ensure close coordination on ongoing pandemic. Last week, PM Modi spoke to his Nepali counterpart KP Sharma Oli to discuss prevailing COVID-29 situation and expressed solidarity with neighbouring country in fight against COVID-19.

two leaders exchanged ir views on ongoing crisis and challenges it poses to health and safety of citizens. y agreed to continue close coordination and consultation among experts and officials of two countries on all issues arising out from COVID-19, including issue of cross-border supplies of essential commodities.

PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to ensure all possible support and assistance for Nepal's efforts in fighting pandemic. He also appreciated response and crisis manment by Government on Nepal under PM Oli’s leadership
