PM Modi says, 'Gandhi is synonymous with simplicity' at event in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with members of the film industry on Saturday, October 19, in New Delhi to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and several of Bollywood's top stars were present at the event. The event was aimed at inviting the film industry to create films, tv shows and popularise Mahatma Gandhi and his ideas. Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez, Imtiaz Ali, Ekta Kapoor, Anurag Basu and Boney Kapoor attended the event. Prime Minister addressed the people who attended the event and discussed ways to popularise Mahatma Gandhi and mark his 150th birth Anniversary.

'Gandhi is synonymous with simplicity'

In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about Mahatma Gandhi's simplicity and encouraged the film fraternity to highlight and promote his ideas in their work. He also urged the industry to use the power of creativity for nation-building.

"Gandhi is synonymous with simplicity. His thoughts reverberate far and wide. The power of creativity is immense, and it is essential to harness this spirit of creativity for our nation. Several people from the world of films and television have been doing great work when it comes to popularising the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi", Prime Minister Modi said at the event.

Apart from Bollywood actors, noted filmmakers like Aanand L Rai were also at the event. He said, "We are accustomed to being known as representatives from the world of entertainment. But, you have also added a spirit of responsibility to this by involving us in popularizing Gandhi Ji's ideals," he told PM Modi.

The Prime Minister also released a video directed by Rajkumar Hirani which featured multiple Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Vicky Kaushal.
