PM Modi in Vladivostok, Russia; Eyes defence technology transfer

PM wishes to develop relations beyond trade and looks towards producing technology in India, later selling the military equipment to third nations at low prices

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Vlivostok for a two-day visit. PM's visit will be for two primary reasons - firstly, to participate as chief guest at 5th Eastern Ecomic Forum on  invitation of Russia's President Vlimir Putin and secondly, to hold 20th India-Russia Annual Summit along Putin. PM's visit to Russian Far East will aim to develop close and mutually beneficial cooperation between India and Russia in region.

Objectives of PM's visit

PM Modi will look to increase commercial relations between two countries in various sectors, such as oil and gas, military, farming, railways, , etc. PM has wished to develop relations between two countries beyond civil, nuclear and defence areas. Prime Minister has also specified that two nations do t want to limit  relations to being just buyers and sellers of military techlogy, but also develop ways to transfer techlogy since military equipment can be produced cheaply in India and later be sold to third world countries at low prices.

PM's schedule in Vlivostok

Prime Minister will be attending multiple events during his two-day visit. He will begin his schedule with a visit to  Zvezda shipbuilding complex with Putin and later in morning hold India-Russia summit where multiple talks regarding tre and commerce will be conducted. leers will also work towards discussing talks on Shanghai cooperation, regional issues such as Gulf, Afghanistan might also be taken up. Post summit, two leers will be making a joint statement on developments during summit, such as  deals signed, future expectations, and furr strengning of ties between two nations.

PM Modi will be visiting 'Street to Far East' exhibition. exhibition is a unique place for leing Russian and international professionals in ecomics, public ministration. Russian and Asia-Pacific region business communities come toger with  objectives of strengning ties between international investment community, Russian businesses, etc. It will also look to showcase new conditions in place for investment and business: vanced special ecomic zones, Freeport of Vlivostok, and state support for promising investment projects. In evening, PM Modi will attend a dinner hosted by President Putin.
