After inauguration, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that this project will start a new era of development in tribal-dominated region.

dressing a parallel event here, CM Sai said, "This airport connects to aspirations of people of Surguja. People have been waiting for years to see this tribal region get connected to rest of country by air. That dream has been fulfilled."

"PM Modi's dream of ensuring even people wearing slippers can take flights is becoming a reality across country. It is PM's vision to establish better aviation services in country. inauguration of this airport will ensure connectivity of two big tribal divisions- Bastar and Surguja along with Raipur and Bilaspur. It will boost development of Surguja region and all of Chhattisgarh ," Sai asserted.
PM Modi Inaugurates Terminal Building of Maa Mahamaya Airport in Ambikapur
At an event in his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, Uttar Presh, PM Modi launched various projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore, including e-inauguration of terminal buildings for Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima, as well as those in Rewa, Mhya Presh , and Sarsawa, Uttar Presh, with a total investment exceeding Rs 220 crore.

CM Sai noted that Modi government has consistently worked to improve air connectivity in Chhattisgarh , leing to enhanced facilities and increased flight operations at airports in Jagdalpur, Raipur, and Bilaspur.
Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima, which spans 365 acres and was developed at a cost of Rs 80 crore, has been upgred under Union government's Regional Connectivity Scheme. Officials stated that airport can accommodate 72-seater aircraft, with terminal building now capable of handling up to 500,000 passengers annually.
