PM Modi Is The Voice Of Global South, Says Jaishankar After Being Conferred Dominica Award of Honour

Guyana: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred with 'Dominica Award of Honour', highest national award of Dominica, during his state visit to Guyana.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said, " Congratulate PM @narendramodi on being conferred with Dominica's highest National Award - "Dominica Award of Honour"."

External Affairs Minister noted that award recognises, "PM's statesmanship, especially support to Dominica during Covid-19 pandemic".

He observed, " award reinforces PM @narendramodi's leership in being a true partner and voice of Global South".

After being conferred with award, Prime Minister Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude.

He said, "This honour is not only mine. but also of 1.4 billion people of India, ir efforts, ir values, ir tritions".

He thanked President Sylvanie Burton of Dominica for her special gesture to come to Guyana and confer award on him.

"India and Dominica are role models for world in field of women empowerment. Both countries have women presidents. You both are a source of inspiration for women across world", PM remarked while he received award.

PM Modi said, "India and Dominica have longstanding historic and cultural relations. In 19th century, many Indians me Dominica ir home. cornerstone laid down by m lays strong groundwork for our friendship. Inspired by ir actions, we want to support Dominica's development and capacity building actively".

PM Modi also highlighted, "It has been a great source of satisfaction for India that during time of COVID pandemic, we were able to help people of Dominica. Dominica is our valuable partner in CARICOM region and in upcoming times, we are committed to taking our relationship to greater heights. After being conferred with this award, our responsibility becomes even more"..

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also conferred with highest national award of Guyana, ' Order of Excellence' during his visit to nation on final leg of his three-nation tour.

Award was presented to him by Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. Order of Excellence, was awarded to PM Modi for his exceptional service to global community, statesmanship and contribution to deepening India-Guyana ties.
