PM Modi lauds Gujarati folk singer Geeta Rabari, remembers how he had told her to pursue it years earlier

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took to Twitter to laud singing talent of a young Gujarati folk singer Geeta Rabari. 

young woman h dedicated a song 'Rona Sherma' to PM Modi after meeting him in Parliament. Praising young talent, PM Modi said that he h encourd her to pursue her passion as a child and is very pleased that she has me a mark in this field of singing.

In ar Tweet, Prime Minister lauded her undaunted spirit in pursuing her dream despite hailing from a humble background and also recognised her efforts in popularising Gujarati folk music among youngsters.

Geeta Rabari said that she h met Prime Minister for first time when she was in school. He h n givn her Rs 250 after she sang a song and asked her to keep practicing. She furr said that she belonged to Maldhari community who live in jungle and it was only after her far received a postcard of “Beti Bachao, Beti Phao” that he sent her to school. Recounting her struggles she also talked about it was a wish to contribute to this scheme which enabled her to study, and expressed hope that or women are also able to complete ir education just like she did.
