PM Modi pays tribute to Dr. S Radhakrishnan on the occasion of Teachers' Day in the country, spoke about the contributions and efforts of the teachers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday paid homage to India's Former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, which is also celebrated as Teachers' Day in his memory. PM Modi tweeted a video paying tribute to Dr. S Radhakrishnan and honouring his contributions for the country. He called Dr. S Radhakrishnan an exceptional teacher and mentor. President Kovind also greeted the teachers of the nation and paid his tribute to Dr. S Radhakrishnan in his tweet. He acknowledged the contribution and efforts of the teachers taken to educate their students.

In the video PM Narendra Modi describes Dr. S Radhakrishnan as an individual who at any level of his life, made an effort to live his entire life like a teacher. He also mentioned that teachers never retire they are never bound to a particular age. The best teacher is someone who never lets his inner student die. Emphasizing on the importance of teachers in building our society, PM Modi said, "Students respect toward their teachers, and teachers dedication towards teaching their students create a feeling of oneness them. A teacher is someone distributes knowledge and teaches their how to live life and dream for bigger things in life. I pay my respects to all the teachers in the country and request them to continue educating students as this will help the entire country to grow as well."

About Dr. S Radhakrishnan

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as the first Vice President of India and the second President of India, was an exemplary teacher was also a philosopher, scholar, and politician. His work dedicated to education shaped the youth of the country in the early years of democracy. He was appointed as chairman of the University Grants Commission after independence. His work towards education, especially the commission’s 1949 report about the state of university education helped in shaping the future of the youth of the country.
