PM Modi seconds Arun Jaitley as GST's rollout completes 2 years, calls it a great example of cooperative federalism that helped fulfil a dream

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has completed two years it roll-out on July 1, entering into its third year. Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied to former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's blog on the completion of two years of GST and said that it is a major reform that fulfilled the dream of 'One Nation, One Tax'.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) with motto of 'one nation, one tax' has completed two years it roll-out on July 1, entering into its third year. Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied to former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's blog on completion of two years of GST and said that it is a major reform that fulfilled dream of 'One Nation, One Tax'.

He furr said that 'introduction of GST remains a great example of cooperative federalism'.

PM Modi, in his tweet, went on to congratulation everyone who me GST possible and constantly took feedback to make it more people-friendly, as taxation policy completed two-years of its introduction in Indian ecomic structure.

In his blog on Monday, former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, under whose leership GST was introduced, also spoke about GST Council as India’s first statutory federal institution in which  Centre and states jointly sit and decide to create one common market.

Arun Jaitley chaired GST Council for two years (2017-2019) under first PM Modi-led government. 

Sharing his own experience while chairing GST Council as Finance Minister in Modi Cabinet 1.0, Arun Jaitley said that it was Finance Ministers’ of States, twithstanding political position ir parties take, who displayed a high level of statesmanship and acted with maturity. 

current GST council is being chaired by former Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who took as  Finance Minister under Modi Cabinet 2.0, along with BJP MP Anurag Thakur as  Union Minister of State for Finance.
