PM Modi will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers on December 21 at the Garvi Gujarat Bhavan to review progress of work done by all the ministries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of Council of Ministers on December 21 at  Garvi Gujarat Bhavan. He will review progress of work done by all ministries over last 6 months from 11 am onwards. All ministries have been asked to prepare a presentation in this regard. secretaries working in all ministries along with senior BJP leaders such as working president JP Nadda and general secretary BL Santosh are likely to be a part of this meeting. This would be first Council of Ministers meeting after June 13, days after Narendra Modi took oath as PM.

Focus likely on key projects such as Jal Jeevan Mission

In first meeting, PM had outlined his priorities for ‘Mission 2022’. He had asked ministers to present a report card detailing progress of ir tasks in every three months. As per sources, PM will focus on implementation of projects such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission. While former deals with providing affordable housing to people, Jal Jeevan Mission aims at ensuring potable tap water for each household of country. On December 21, such programmes will be reviewed by PM to ascertain performance of respective cabinet ministers. He is expected to give inputs for work to be undertaken in next 6 months. performance of ministers might be taken into consideration while effecting cabinet reshuffle slated to take place in a few weeks’ time.

PM condemns violent protests

Meanwhile, reacting to violent protests on Citizenship Amendment Act on Monday, PM stated that it was “unfortunate” and “deeply distressing”. Maintaining that violence and disturbance of rmal life was t part of Indian ethos, he reminded people that CAA was passed by both Houses of Parliament with a resounding majority. PM ted that Act highlighted country’s tradition of harmony and brorhood.
