PM Narendra Modi will launch the campaign for 'Fit India Movement' across India. PM Modi had announced the 'Fit India' campaign in the Mann Ki Baat programme. He had urged Indians to be ready to take part in the movement. He aspires to spread awareness on fitness and staying healthy through the initiative.

PM Modi on 'Fit India Movement'

"My dear countrymen, all of you will remember that the 29th of August is celebrated as 'National Sports Day'. On this occasion, we are going to launch the 'Fit India Movement' across the country. We have to keep ourselves fit and the nation has to be made fit. It will be a very interesting campaign for everyone - children, the elderly, the young and women and it will be your own movement," he said.

PM Narendra Modi's initiatives for 2019

PM Modi added that he would inform on the detail of the Fit India Movement on August 29, 2019. He added that he wanted to see Indians fit. He also said that everyone should unite to set goals to make each other aware about fitness. PM Modi added that he would be looking forward to citizens' participation on Thursday. He also said he awaited participation of people in the ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ during the month of September and especially in the 'Swachhata Abhiyan' beginning from the 11th of September to the 2nd of October.

President of India, Ministers join PM Narendra Modi's campaign

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said that we must nurture the habit of participation in sports from a young age. He added that there is a need to promote the culture in India. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also said that he is glad about the launch of Fit India Movement during the National Sports Day. He appealed everyone to join the initiative.
